Moderate Alcohol Consumption May Help Prevent Sudden Cardiac Death

Moderate consumption of alcoholic beverages is known to be associated with decreased risk of death from cardiovascular (heart and blood vessel) disease in both middle-aged men and postmenopausal women. Moderate alcohol consumption may have this beneficial effect by increasing blood levels of HDL (“good”) cholesterol and decreasing the likelihood of blood clot formation.

How to Handle a Fever Seizure

Once you have recognized the symptoms of a seizure in your child, take immediate action to prevent injury:
Lay your child on a flat surface on his or her stomach or side, away from any sharp or hard objects.
Turn your child’s head to the side so that vomit or saliva can drain from the mouth. (more…)
